The opening of scream

The opening of this film meets the conventions of a thriller, because from a thriller film we expect tension building up to death. There is an innocent victim that always ends up in trouble/dies. There is a dark and scary atmosphere and the character was alone. Use of foreshadowing devices, example the pop corn burning and alarm going off suggests there will be trouble later on. the character is innocent/ordinary we know this by the costume she is wearing; pale colours, not overly done up, blonde bob cut hair. She is wondering around her house doing ordinary chores. Also she plays with a knife at one point in the scene, which indicates there will be trouble. outside it seems like someone is present because the swing is swinging, even though she is alone; this creates suspense. It is set in an isolated house on a rural area. She is always screaming later on....

Types of Characters We Would Want To Use In Our Coursework Are:

We would want to use a character that is running away from something and is scared, we would also want a person who stops running and thinks about what she has done.....
Therefore we think this picture asked questions to the audience for example:
>> Why is she so depressed?
>> What is she thinking about?
>> What has she done to get herself into this situation? etc...

We've all been there; alone in a car park late at night with a flickering light overhead. We have all have the moment of feeling that danger is lurking in every shadowy corner. Having the feeling that someone is watching your every move and sometimes standing right next to/behind you without you knowing. The pictures above are examples of characters we would like to use in our coursework.

Location for our coursework

We would like to and think it is appropriate for our genre that we shoot in a place that is narrow and isolated. So like the places you can see in the pictures above. I think the picture at the top, is more like what we would use for our location, because it gives the feel of our genre, which is thriller. As you can see it is dark, gloomy and unexpected that something big will happen in this small area.
we also have the option in shooting the scene in a car park, at night, because this adds to the thriller.
