The opening of scream

The opening of this film meets the conventions of a thriller, because from a thriller film we expect tension building up to death. There is an innocent victim that always ends up in trouble/dies. There is a dark and scary atmosphere and the character was alone. Use of foreshadowing devices, example the pop corn burning and alarm going off suggests there will be trouble later on. the character is innocent/ordinary we know this by the costume she is wearing; pale colours, not overly done up, blonde bob cut hair. She is wondering around her house doing ordinary chores. Also she plays with a knife at one point in the scene, which indicates there will be trouble. outside it seems like someone is present because the swing is swinging, even though she is alone; this creates suspense. It is set in an isolated house on a rural area. She is always screaming later on....

Types of Characters We Would Want To Use In Our Coursework Are:

We would want to use a character that is running away from something and is scared, we would also want a person who stops running and thinks about what she has done.....
Therefore we think this picture asked questions to the audience for example:
>> Why is she so depressed?
>> What is she thinking about?
>> What has she done to get herself into this situation? etc...

We've all been there; alone in a car park late at night with a flickering light overhead. We have all have the moment of feeling that danger is lurking in every shadowy corner. Having the feeling that someone is watching your every move and sometimes standing right next to/behind you without you knowing. The pictures above are examples of characters we would like to use in our coursework.

Location for our coursework

We would like to and think it is appropriate for our genre that we shoot in a place that is narrow and isolated. So like the places you can see in the pictures above. I think the picture at the top, is more like what we would use for our location, because it gives the feel of our genre, which is thriller. As you can see it is dark, gloomy and unexpected that something big will happen in this small area.
we also have the option in shooting the scene in a car park, at night, because this adds to the thriller.

Production Roles for our coursework

Director: Shamima
Producer: Mirza
Actor: Sabina and Rashid
Camera work: Shamima

A scene from Final Destination 3

Lewis' Death:
This is when Lewis dies in an unaxpected way, when we see the knives come down we (the audience)think he is going to die or his arms are going to cut off. however the knives cut the ropes off the weights that Lewis is using; then we see something really unexpected happen the weights come and CRUSH his face and blood splatters out. This meets the generic convention of a thriller, because something happens that the viewers dont expect and there is blood.

Amusement [2008] Theatrical Teaser

This meets the generic convention of a thriller, because you see the weather is really bad. the characters are in an isolated place, they cannot escape. there is something coming out of the walls, that you dont expect and at the end of the trailer there is someone standing right necxt to the actress with a mask on. And she is really terrified.

P2

This meets the generic conventions of a thriller, because, the actress is alone, it is christmas time; she should be going home to be with her family. when she goes to the car park it is dark. She tries to start the car, but it refuses to start. She tries to start it over and over but it doesnt work. In addition her cell phone has no signal because she's in the underground of the building where she work. we see something moving really quickly. all the lights turn off, which tells us that something 'BAD' is going to happen. there is also alot of action as you can see, the place fills up with water, the actress is a victim and she has been kidnapped.

Ideas for the opening scene of our film

The first idea we have is that we are going to film a girl running away from something that we (audience) dont know about. She would be running in an isolated place/road. Then she would dramatically stop running and start looking around and she is looking really worried and terrified and saying "what have i got myself into?"

Another idea we have is that a lady is coming out of a building (could be her workplace) and walking towards her car in the car park at night. She is talking on the phone to her husband saying she'll be home in half an hour. Then she reaches out to open her car door when suddenly she feels something moving behind her, then she turns around and theres nothing there. We then see it again and then we it blacks out and we hear her scream.......

Genre Research

The genre that we decided on is 'THRILLER'.
Normally thrillers would involve sudden plot twists and makes people unsure and guessing what is going to happen next. It creates suspence and can get almost unbearable.

The generic conventions of a thriller usaully involve
>> Murderers
>> Kidnappers
>> Guns
>> Blood
>> Violence
>> Victim - women, child, step father
>> Death
>> Vengeance
>> Bad Weather
>> Isolated Suburb Area
>> Large Empty House
>> Evening/Night Time
>> Abnormal Activities
>> Chases
>> Unexpectedness

There are different types of thrillers. Theres horror thrillers like: Saw, Final Destination etc...
Theres also action thrillers such as James Bond, Die Hard etc...

Thrillers are seen because its exciting and it gives the audience an adrenalin rush from seeing things that dont normally happen in real/every day life.

meeting take 1 (meating) Mirz, Ruhul and Afsal

In this video i was in charge of the camera. Ruhul and Afsal were acting and so i did not participate in the acting much. However the camera shots in this video were not as good they should be because this was my first piece of work and after this video i learnt the different types of camera shots and so improvements can be seen in the next couple of videos we made. By MIRZA RAHMAN

Meeting (Take 1) Rashid and Tayef

This was my first clip in AS media so the quality of the video is in poor standard. However, after my first attempt, I improved and my camera skills improved. In this video I did some acting and some camera work.
