The opening of scream

The opening of this film meets the conventions of a thriller, because from a thriller film we expect tension building up to death. There is an innocent victim that always ends up in trouble/dies. There is a dark and scary atmosphere and the character was alone. Use of foreshadowing devices, example the pop corn burning and alarm going off suggests there will be trouble later on. the character is innocent/ordinary we know this by the costume she is wearing; pale colours, not overly done up, blonde bob cut hair. She is wondering around her house doing ordinary chores. Also she plays with a knife at one point in the scene, which indicates there will be trouble. outside it seems like someone is present because the swing is swinging, even though she is alone; this creates suspense. It is set in an isolated house on a rural area. She is always screaming later on....
